Santarém, a historic city in Portugal, is renowned for its Gothic architecture and vibrant cultural life. The city’s bus network features four regular lines that serve the urban population and connect key neighborhoods. However, it also includes unique services tailored to specific needs, such as a dedicated line for elderly passengers and a night line for late-hour travel.

The elderly-focused line is particularly noteworthy—it’s free of charge and designed to ensure accessibility to essential locations, such as hospitals, supermarkets, and city hall. This thoughtful service prioritizes convenience and inclusivity for senior residents, offering them a reliable and efficient means of transportation around the city.

The original official bus map lacked clarity, disregarding the city’s geographic layout and making navigation challenging. This project is a proposal to address those issues by creating a new map that incorporates geographic accuracy and improves usability for passengers.

The new design ensures all lines are visually distinct and includes icons for important destinations to enhance user experience. This proposal reflects a commitment to making urban transit more accessible and easier to navigate for all Santarém residents.
